Hayden Ira May writes things sometimes. He grew up deaf and gay in the middle of nowhere, and his stories seek to articulate that experience in all of its fury.
He studied English Literature and Disability Studies at Purdue University, works in public policy, and lives with his husband in West Lafayette, Indiana.
DEAFNESS
Hayden is deaf, but had limited sign language supports when he was young. Much of his public work advocates for sign language access for deaf and hard of hearing children and young adults and lends visibility to the diversity and complexity of Deaf identity and experience.
